Kansas Spring Turkey Permits Now Available Online at www.accessKansas.org

TOPEKA, Kan. - April 20, 2004 - The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and accessKansas have now made spring turkey permits and game tags available online through www.accessKansas.org, the state's official Web site. This online service is now available 24 hours a day to Kansas residents and non-resident hunters.

"This new online service makes it easier and more convenient for hunters to obtain the necessary documentation before leaving for a hunt," said Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Secretary Mike Hayden. "Hunters can go online from the convenience of their homes to complete the licensing process. The Internet is enabling us to provide better service to our constituents."

Purchasing an online permit takes less than five minutes, and only a few pieces of information are needed to complete the process. The user-friendly system accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express charges, and all payments are processed through the accessKansas secure payment server. Permits and game tags can be printed from any computer.

Each permit and game tag can only be used in a specified number of units within the state of Kansas. A unit is a tract of land described by Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. There are a total of four units within the state of Kansas, and permits can be purchased online for units 1, 2 and 3. The printed version of the permit or game tag will show the valid unit number. The valid units for each permit or game tag type change from year to year.
