Find Your Next Job With Utah.gov's New Careers Web Site

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – October 12, 2004 – If you're looking for a job, look to Utah – where help is just a few clicks away at http://careers.utah.gov. Utah's newest service is an interactive Web site for job seekers at any stage of the process and offers useful information about careers, jobs, education, and training in the state of Utah.

Careers.utah.gov is a comprehensive, school-to-retirement career exploration and planning solution available to all Internet users. The information found on the site will help students select the most appropriate courses to help prepare for work, technical training, and/or college.  It will also provide post-secondary students who enter the workforce after graduation with current and useful information on what employers want. Laid-off workers can benefit as well from labor market intelligence that will aid them in re-entering the workforce.

"Individuals can become overwhelmed by planning for the future," says Utah Governor Olene Walker. "Whether they're investigating careers, exploring education and training, or looking for a job, this new Web site has the tools and information to help them make informed decisions."

The new Careers site offers information on all facets of career planning. Curt Stewart of the Utah Department of Workforce Services explains, "What are the ‘hot jobs' in Utah, or the nation? What training is necessary? Where is the training available? What are the projected pay ranges? All of the answers to these questions can be found at Careers.utah.gov."

In fact, said Stewart, the new Web site will even help users create real-time resumes that potential employers can view online.

Careers.utah.gov is the latest edition to Utah's eGovernment offerings. More than 100 online services are current available at Utah.gov; the careers site is just one more example of Utah state government's commitment to serve its citizens and businesses. Other online services include Renewal Express, a vehicle registration renewal system, and Annual Business Renewal, a business license renewal system.

Careers.utah.gov was developed by the Workforce and Education Development Alliance, a partnership comprised of the Utah Department of Workforce Services, Utah State Office of Education, Utah System of Higher Education, Utah State Office of Rehabilitation, and Utah Interactive.
