Arkansas Extends NIC's eGovernment Portal Contract Until 2008

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – August 8, 2005 – The state of Arkansas has extended the contract for Arkansas Information Consortium to manage www.Arkansas.gov through June 2008. Arkansas Information Consortium built and has managed the state's official Web portal since launching in July 1997 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV).

The three-year contract extension was approved unanimously by the Information Network of Arkansas Board and executed on June 28, 2005. The 12-member committee oversees Arkansas.gov's operations and is comprised of public and private sector representatives. The board also reviews individual agency agreements with Arkansas Information Consortium, sets policies, and approves new portal services.

"Arkansas has spent the last eight years building a world-class state government portal for its citizens and businesses," said Preston Means, who serves as Chairman of the Information Network of Arkansas Board as well as Assistant Commissioner of Revenue for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. "We look forward to further expanding our online service offerings during the next three years through our partnership with NIC."

Arkansas.gov currently offers more than 300 interactive government services for businesses and citizens, including a suite of Secretary of State services, a comprehensive payment center, criminal background checks, child support payments, and a transportation industry portal. In 2004, the portal processed more than 2.2 million transactions on behalf of 170 state and local government agencies.

"We are eager to continue our successful partnership in Arkansas by bringing new value-added services online for the benefit of the state's businesses and citizens," said Jeff Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of NIC.
