Kentucky Dentists Can Now Renew Licenses Online at www.dentistry.ky.gov

FRANKFORT, Ky. – November 16, 2005 – The Kentucky Board of Dentistry recently launched a new service that allows dentists to renew their licenses online. The service can be accessed through the state’s official Web portal at www.kentucky.gov or directly at www.dentistry.ky.gov.

"This new service is provided as a convenience to our licensees, said Gary Munsie, executive director of the Kentucky Board of Dentistry. "Dentists can simply login to the service and within a few short minutes know with certainty that their license renewals have been processed successfully."

The dentist license renewal period is now underway and runs through December 31. The online license renewal program is the fastest and easiest way for dentists to complete their renewals. Since the service launched in late October, 22 percent of dentists that have completed their renewal did so online. Dental hygienists will also have the opportunity to use this service for their next renewal cycle in 2006.

In order to complete a renewal, the licensee is asked to verify and update their unique licensure information, answer a few questions, and pay the renewal fee in easy-to-follow steps. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and electronic check payments are processed through Kentucky.gov’s secure payment server, and new licenses are mailed once the Board has accepted the renewal application.

"This service allows busy dentists to renew their licenses any time day or night," said Munsie. "So far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive."

The license renewal program was built by the Board in partnership with Kentucky.gov.
