Iowa Signs New eGovernment Portal Contract with NIC

DES MOINES – April 12, 2006 – The state of Iowa has signed a new long-term contract with Iowa Interactive to manage its official government portal (www.Iowa.gov). The contract includes an initial five-year term and renewal options that run through March 2012. Des Moines-based Iowa Interactive is a wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV).

Iowa Interactive signed its original multiyear contract with the state of Iowa in November 1997. After fulfilling the original contract term, the state issued a competitive bid for eGovernment portal services in November 2005. The contract was again awarded to NIC and approved on March 31 by Mollie Anderson, Director of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services.

To maximize taxpayer return on investment, Iowa uses a self-funded solution to provide eGovernment services.

"Iowa's citizens and businesses are demanding that we continue to deliver a high level of service through the Internet," said Iowa Chief Information Officer John Gillispie. "We plan to introduce many new online services and are eager to leverage our successful relationship with Iowa Interactive and NIC."

"We value our long-term relationship with the state of Iowa and look forward to many more years of expanding our productive partnership," said Harry Herington, NIC's Chief Operating Officer.
