Kentucky Launches New Web site to Better Assist Veterans at http://www.veterans.KY.gov

FRANKFORT, KY – March 6, 2008 – The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs has updated its online presence for veterans in the Commonwealth. The redesigned site at http://www.veterans.KY.gov provides constituents with information on benefits, cemeteries, nursing homes, homeless veterans, women veterans, and employment.

“Our new Web site makes it much easier for veterans and their families to find the information and services they need quickly and easily,” said Brigadier General (ret.) Les Beavers, Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs. “We will continue to update, improve, and add to the site frequently to ensure it provides the best online service to Kentucky veterans.”

Included in some of the new services is the benefits assistance map. This clickable map of Kentucky provides a quick and easy way to find contact information for the Commonwealth’s veterans benefits representative in a particular county. The veterans benefits representative assists veterans and their dependents in the presentation, proof, and establishment of all claims, privileges, rights and other veteran benefits which they may have under federal, state, or local laws.

The new site and the benefits assistance map were created through a partnership with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs and the Commonwealth’s official Web site (http://www.Kentucky.gov).
