Nebraska Court Document E-Filing Now Available Online at http://www.Nebraska.gov

LINCOLN, Neb., – June 9, 2008 – The Nebraska Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), in collaboration with http://www.Nebraska.gov, has launched a new online system for attorneys to file new civil cases and to make subsequent filings on open cases.

Attorneys who subscribe to http://www.Nebraska.gov are eligible to use the E-filing system. There are no additional fees to file a case online. The normal court fees for filing cases are transferred electronically from the attorney’s account, to the court of filing. Once registered as an E-filer, it is not necessary to enter payment information for each filing. The system is streamlined and it takes no more than a few minutes to complete a filing.

“Our goal in designing the E-Filing system was to create something that was easy and convenient for the attorneys and the courts. We are happy with the early adoption numbers and believe the future lies in an electronic system that is more efficient, and can provide judges, court staff, attorneys, parties, and the general public with a consistent and reliable record,” said Deputy State Court Administrator, Bill Miller.

The new application debuted in Sarpy County Court in April, which has already processed more than 800 E-filings. The next court to go online was Lancaster County District Court, followed by Scotts Bluff County District Court. New courts will continue to be incorporated until all County and District courts in Nebraska are online.
